The PBS interview series

Joyride is a short-form interview series that pairs curious young minds with older adults as they explore the world together on bikes.

Each 10–15 minute episode, filmed in the United States or in Europe, centers around unlocking the lived experiences of today's older generation — who have become increasingly removed from the flow of daily life. Joyride creates new conditions for generations to connect, share experiences, and be inspired by a sense of belonging and nostalgia.

Joyride is created by Danish social entrepreneur Ole Kassow and Brief But Spectacular creator and filmmaker Steve Goldbloom, and is funded by and aired on PBS.

The principles

What Cycling Without Age is built on

Generosity

Pilots volunteer their time — freely and joyfully — and the movement grows by giving, not selling.

Slowness

We ride slowly so riders can take in the world, have a conversation, wave at neighbors.

Storytelling

Every ride uncovers a story. We listen, and we pass it on.

Relationships

The bike is a vehicle for friendship. Pilots and passengers often become family.

Without Age

Age is irrelevant on the trishaw. What matters is the wind in your hair.
